“He snatched out their souls and laid them flat on a rock and he made them choose between what he had given them and what they had taken for themselves.  The woman made the choice.”

Aahhh… Where do I even start?

Dang it, but this book is a work of art.

The whole of it feels and looks so fancy, cover to cover.  The illustrations of Jim Di Bartolo are glorious—classic and freakingly beautiful, as beautiful and as magical as Laini Taylor’s words written on the pages. Read more

“when you are broken
and he has left you
do not question
whether you were

Eliza and Her Monsters is a gem of its kind.

I expected to like this book because I read from somewhere that this is similar to Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, but I honestly am in awe of just how much I ended up loving it.  I think this was such a wonderful and fantastic story, and safe to say, the best YA contemporary I’ve read so far.  This review is probably going to be peppered with quotes because I just love quoting all the really good lines from the books I read. Avan bookowls!

My reading journey with the Shades of Magic trilogy was nothing short of wonderful. I remember reading the first few pages of A Darker Shade of Magic and I knew that it was just the right book for me. There are books that are good, there are books that you enjoy, but there are books that you just couldn’t get enough of. Those that you daydream about, those that you became too immersed in their world that you imagine yourself a part of it, you keep thinking of the what ifs and their life after the ending.
